Note - Longest running train on Indian Railways is Dibrugarh Kanyakumari Vivek express (4243 km) which is a weekly train. Kerala express runs daily - 3036 km. It was 2 years back, April 27th my RF began accidentally with Kerala express and so I thought of paying a small tribute to the same train. Used to wait eagerly for the vacations to board the train from New Delhi and those days it had first class too. It had only 5 halts inside Kerala and did New Delhi Jhansi non stop. Stations like Kayankulam junction never existed !!! Selected this music due to rhythmic train beats. Last train is not Kerala express. Some already known facts - - Longest running daily train. - 100% occupancy all 365 days with passengers sleeping on floors during peak seasons - Only daily train connecting North with Tirupati. - Touches 9 Indian States including Rajasthan. - Though always rattling, derailment free history at least until now. Only God can understand IR operations. The last thing I wanna see before the suicide, is a freight overtaking Kerala express !!! While 2 hours late India's longest running daily, 24 coach 12626 New Delhi Thiruvananthapruma Kerala express has a short nap on a loop, just before Vijayawada, a WAG9 HCPV comes on main line as if threatening to overtake. A cement plant earlier called ACC, now changed to MCC (Mancherial Cement Company) is located here. Mancherial is part of a tri towns comprising Mancherial, Naspur and Srirampur.

A small glimpse of the pathetic condition of India's longest running daily train, Kerala express. Things are really worse than seen here. If this is the condition of Kerala's most prestige train, I shudder to imagine the condition of other long distance trains in Kerala. One can find rats, spiders and cockroaches having a nice time. But I don't blame them. They also do have a right to exist. Earth is not just human property. But why do they come? Because the intelligent fools called humans litter everywhere. I have seen cockroaches in all trains including Rajdhani. It seems WR caught 1000+ rats on Mumbai Rajdhani in 2010 - www.dnaindia.com On third day of journey especially on 12626, after it enters Kerala, one has to use news paper or mineral water after a dump, since there will be no water, as if journey has come to an end once train enters Kerala at Palakkad (372 km, 8 hours more for TVC). This problem is normally unseen in 12625, since other zones and divisions treat this train well. No rake of TN and AP expresses are older than 2005. But in Kerala express one can find 1988 coaches also. The typical excuse they give is that, Kerala has 7 rakes which needs to be maintained ie somewhere around 150 coaches. That is a disgusting shameful excuse. This train provides revenue to Indian Railways in crores. Every day 48 fully loaded coaches, with 100% occupancy, makes India's longest daily running trip of 3037 KM. I don't think there are any other trains on IR which generates ...

Parasuram Express Train No: 6349 is an express train run by Indian Railways connecting Mangalore, Karnataka with Thiruvanthapuram, Kerala. It is also known by the name of Day Express as it traverses the full length of the Kerala State during the day time. The train derives its name from the legend of mythical character Parasurama,an incarnation of Lord Vishnu who is considered as creator of Kerala and Konkan Coast from the sea. This video clip which I took this morning at the Calicut railway station shows the train leaving for Trivandrum after an extended 10 minutes (normally 5 minutes) stay at platform 1 of Calicut station.

MPS Lalitpur - 115 km/hr. Considering, this is the longest daily running train on IR and the number of overtakes it does, I consider this train as the "Overtake King" among the Non Rajdhani trains.
